Award winning restaurant and winery
About Us
In the heart of Red Hill, Max’s Restaurant is a buzzing hive of activity and an award winning restaurant and winery.
Combining “the best view of any vineyard in the world” as Ian Sutton, Former CEO Australian Winemakers Federation put it, with an inspiring menu bursting with local produce and delectable wines, a true Mornington Peninsula Experience is guaranteed.
With Chef Max Paganoni at the reins, his dedication to utilising and promoting local produce is obvious. From the seasonal a la carte menu to a plethora of special events, the flavours change to suit the situation, however the use of fine Mornington Peninsula produce does not. Whether it be strawberries from Rocky Creek, cherries from Ellisfield Farm, local grilled flat head tails in Red Hill Brewery’s pale ale beer batter or Delgrosso’s apples and Boat Shed Cheese, the flavours remain seasonal and fresh.

History
Max’s at Red Hill enjoys iconic status as the first winery restaurant on the Peninsula. When the restaurant was established, there were no freeways to the area and it was a long two hour drive from Melbourne. “People thought I was crazy and that it would never work”, says Max. Almost three decades on and surrounded by numerous other winery restaurants, Max is seen as a pioneer of the dining scene on the Peninsula.
Selecting a stunning site for his restaurant, Max’s at Red Hill sits high on the hill, overlooking the vineyard and out to Westernport Bay and Phillip Island. Over the years Max’s has enjoyed a high level of success and many accolades, the most recent of which have been the Victorian Tourism Award 2010 & 2011 and the Australian Tourism Award in 2010 for Restaurant and Catering Services.
These awards are testament to Max’s commitment to tourism in the region. Max’s at Red Hill caters for intimate dining, special occasions, weddings, groups and corporate functions. Offering friendly and efficient service and stunning views, Max’s is a journey worth taking.

From the sea, this dish honours tradition while celebrating the best of local ingredients. A handmade seafood raviolo filled with Balmain bug and king prawn sits in a rich, aerated bisque, finished with a vibrant coastal herb oil. Crowned with @yarravalleycaviar_au , it is a dish that speaks of the ocean’s depth and the craft that goes into every detail where skill, technique, and respect for local produce come together to create something truly special.
